As a journalist with the Associated Press, Sahm Venter covered Nelson Mandela’s
release from prison in 1990 and South Africa’s transition to democracy.
She is now the senior researcher at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg,
South Africa, where she has worked more than ten years.
Venter edited The Prison Letters of Nelson Mandela, co-authored Conversations with
a Gentle Soul with Ahmed Kathrada, and has co-edited several works.
