General Municipal Election
The City’s General Municipal Elections are held on the second Tuesday of April in even-numbered years. The next scheduled general municipal election will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The office of Mayor, Council Member District 2, and Council Member District 4 will be up for election. Link to current election information.
Districts
On June 3, 2014, Whittier voters approved a Charter Amendment to elect Council Members from four geographically defined districts. A city-wide mayor position was also established.
District boundaries were set with expert assistance to adhere to state law and after community input on what neighborhoods should stay together.
Voter Registration
Voter registration is available through the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk or by calling 1-800-815-2666. Voter registration forms can also be picked up from City Hall, Whittier Libraries, and post offices.
