The City of Whittier is actively engaged in exploring options for establishing permanent outdoor dining in Uptown Whittier following its temporary Greenleaf Promenade Dine & Shop program. The program was implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic and allowed businesses to operate within the public right-of-way. As part of its ongoing efforts to beautify and enhance Greenleaf Avenue and adjacent commercial areas of Uptown Whittier, the City of Whittier has prioritized development of a revitalized Greenleaf Promenade between Wardman Street and Hadley Street that would incorporate elements from guiding documents like the Uptown Whittier Specific Plan and Uptown Whittier Streetscape Beautification Plan to address key objectives including pedestrian-friendly walkability, lighting, new landscape, park space, and flexible outdoor dining and modular gathering space for three blocks.
