Whittier CERT LogoCERT, which stands for Community Emergency Response Team, is a program designed to train and prepare community members to effectively respond to emergencies and disasters.

CERT is a grassroots initiative managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and implemented at the local level by various community organizations, including city and county emergency management agencies. The program aims to provide ordinary citizens with the skills and knowledge needed to assist in emergency situations when professional responders are not immediately available.

Overall, CERT is a valuable program that empowers individuals to take an active role in disaster preparedness and response, ultimately contributing to safer and more resilient communities.
