The use of force training unit is responsible for the ongoing training of the entire police department. The team is made up of seven officers and a sergeant. The members of the use of force instruction team have all been certified as instructors by the State of California Commission of Police Officers Training Standards.

This highly trained team conducts regular instruction sessions in the following topics: department policies and procedures, firearms and survival tactics, less lethal weapon applications, pepper spray/chemical agent training, defensive tactics, martial arts and self defense, verbal communications skills, high risk traffic stops, decision making under stress, and liability training.
